How to Merge PDF Files on Android

Combining PDFs is useful when an application, report, invoice set or study pack is spread across several files. A good merge workflow is more than selecting documents: you should confirm the source files, page order and final output.

Before you merge

• Open every source PDF and confirm it is complete.
• Rename files so their intended order is obvious.
• Keep the originals in a separate folder.
• Check whether any file is password-protected.
• Make sure there is enough free storage for a new combined copy.

Step-by-step merge workflow

1. Open the PDF tools area and choose Merge PDF.
2. Select the source documents with Android's file picker.
3. Arrange the documents in the exact order required.
4. Start the merge and wait for the new output to finish.
5. Open the combined PDF and review the first page, transitions and final page.
6. Save or share the output only after the order is correct.

Choosing the correct order

For formal submissions, place the main form first, supporting documents second and optional attachments last. For scanned booklets, verify that front and back pages were not accidentally reversed. Descriptive file names such as 01-cover.pdf, 02-form.pdf and 03-attachments.pdf make ordering easier.

What happens to the originals?

A safe mobile workflow creates a new merged output instead of overwriting the source documents. Keep the source files until the combined document has been reviewed, uploaded or accepted by the recipient.

Common merge problems

One PDF cannot be opened

The file may be damaged, incomplete or protected. Open it separately and provide the password where supported before attempting a new merge.

The output is very large

Scanned PDFs contain images and can grow quickly when combined. After reviewing the merged document, create a compressed copy if the recipient has a file-size limit. Keep the higher-quality original when possible.

Pages appear in the wrong direction

Use the page organizer to rotate affected pages, then export a corrected version.

Privacy tip

Only share the final PDF with the intended destination. Remove unnecessary pages and verify that hidden or unrelated attachments were not included.
